Two South Korean strikers have become the best finishing players in the English Premier League.

British soccer publication Football 365 ranked the best goal finishers in the Premier League on Wednesday (June 12), and Son Heung-min and Hwang Hee-chan were ranked first and second, respectively.

Son has an Expected Goals (xG) value of 6 this season, but has actually scored 10 goals. That's four more goals than he should have scored. "Son has now scored double-digit goals for the eighth consecutive season," the publication said, "and he is now fully enjoying the tactics implemented by Tottenham Hotspur manager Anzhi Postecoglou."

Heung-min scored his eighth consecutive 10-goal season with a 40th-minute penalty in the 16th round of the 2023/24 English Premier League against Newcastle United on Nov. 11. Son's eight consecutive seasons of double-digit goals are the seventh in Premier League history. It's a feat reserved for players who will go down in league history.

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney (11 seasons) is the longest-running double-digit scorer, followed by Chelsea's Frank Lampard (10 seasons), Manchester City's Sergio Aguero, Son's former teammate Harry Kane (over nine seasons), Arsenal's Thierry Henry, and Liverpool's Sadio Mane. Heung-min joins the ranks of these players.

What's more, until Son achieved the record, no club had ever had two players do it, and with Son's arrival, Tottenham will have had double-digit scorers for eight consecutive seasons, second only to Harry Kane. If Son reaches double figures again next season, he will tie Kane and jump to fifth on the list.

Hwang Hee-chan also has a +4 gap between his xG value and actual goals scored. Hwang's xG value is 4, but he has already scored 8 goals this season. The media also praised Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves) manager Gary O'Neill for his comments. "He's a player who knows exactly when to get into a position to score," O'Neill said in a press conference ahead of their Premier League Round of 16 match against Nottingham Forest on October 10.Hwang Hee-chan, in particular, has made a meteoric rise in the Premier League, erasing his somewhat lackluster past in a short period of time.

After scoring just four goals (three in the Premier League) in 32 games in the 2022/23 season, Hwang looked to be on the decline in the Premier League, but with less than half of the season under his belt, he's already surpassed that mark. Hwang is currently seventh in the league's top scorers, six goals behind Man City's Elling Holland, who is first. 바카라사이트

Holland and Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, who have more goals than Son Heung-min, are not in the top 10. This is because they have a smaller gap between their xG values and their actual goals. According to FbRef, a site specializing in soccer statistics, Salah has an xG value of 10.6, which is a difference of 0.4 from his 11 goals. That's a lot of goals to score.

Holland is a little lower. His xG value is 14.8, but he scored 14 goals. In effect, he missed a goal.

In the last match against Tottenham in the 14th round of the league, Holland had a chance in the 13th minute of the first leg with an xG of 0.4, but he missed with his left foot. Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario was fully aligned to the left of the goal at the time, so it wasn't a difficult shot, but it went wide.

Considering that xG doesn't take into account things like the goalkeeper's position, so an xG of 0.4 is lower than it feels, Holland's finishing hasn't been as sharp as it should be this season. Football 365 also disagreed, stating that "Salah, Holland or Son Heung-min has the best finish in the Premier League".
