Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) president Luis Campos barely held on for dear life.

PSG drew 1-1 with Dortmund in the final Group F match of the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League (UCL) at the Zignale Iduna Park in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, at 5 a.m. ET on Thursday.

They conceded first. In the sixth minute of the second half, Achraf Hakimi lost the ball to Rami Bensebaini. Niklas Fühlkrug, who took over the pass, made a folding move inside the penalty box and cut it aside, allowing Karim Adeyemi's shot to hit the post and trickle in.

Fortunately, they quickly equalized. In the 11th minute of the second half, Kylian Mbappe cut back after breaking down the left flank off a pass from Lee Kang-In. The ball hit a defender and drifted towards the penalty arc. Warren Zaire Emery collected it and slotted it home with a simple shot.

With that, PSG drew with Dortmund, while the other game in the group, Newcastle United vs AC Milan, ended in a 2-1 victory for AC Milan. The final Group F standings were Dortmund (11 points), PSG (8 points), AC Milan (8 points), and Newcastle (5 points). PSG had the same number of points as AC Milan, but finished above them on winner-take-all goal difference.

PSG's dramatic survival of the 'Group of Death' was not lost on Campos. On the 15th, France's RMC Sport reported that "Campos was very happy after the match against Dortmund, even though he knew that some might be frustrated." 카지노

For Campos, the game against Dortmund was a turning point. Ahead of the match, French publication L'Equipe wrote: "PSG's failure to qualify for the UCL tournament does not threaten Luis Enrique's future. Campos is more to blame. Despite spending around 500 million euros last summer or before, certain of his choices are still not convincing," the French publication said.

Campos took over in 2022 and spent €500 million to bring in Vitinha, Nuno Carlos Soler, Henato Sanchez, Mendes, Fabian Luis, and Nordy Moukiele in 2022-23 and Lee Kang-In, Randall Kolo Moani, Luca Hernandez, Bradley Barca, Manuel Ugarte, and Ousmane Dembele in 2023-24.

PSG's ultimate goal is to win the UCL, but last season they were knocked out in the round of 16. And this time, they almost didn't make it out of the group stage. Luckily, they managed to survive, and Campos' job is safe.
